Minseok’s legal team is defending the president’s daughter, Kim Min, in a defamation lawsuit against her ex-husband, former Park Geun-hye.
Min Seok, who was the first South Korean president to be impeached by parliament, said Tuesday that she has filed a defamation case against her former husband in Seoul’s Supreme Court.
Minseock’s lawyers have also filed a motion in the Seoul District Court.
The South Korean media reported Monday that Minseoks attorneys are questioning the authenticity of an article published on the website of the Korean Central News Agency.
Minseok said she filed the lawsuit because she is concerned about the defamation claims against her father, who is currently on trial in a corruption scandal that has rocked the country since he was first elected in 2002.
MinSeok said her father had “not been able to control his emotions and was not able to take care of his own affairs.”
Minseong told the court that her father suffered from anxiety and depression.
She added that she was afraid of the possibility that she could be accused of having violated her father’s personal trust.
In a statement on Monday, the Park administration said the South Korean government “is not in a position to investigate whether the article is true.”
“Minseoks allegations are unfounded and baseless,” the statement read.
Minis lawyer said the article on the site of the government agency is a “bogus article” and is “distorted.”
MinSeoks lawyer also said Minseo is not the first daughter of the Park family to sue her father.
In March 2016, Minseos ex-boyfriend, Kim Dong-hyun, filed a similar lawsuit against the Parks.
Min-seok and her husband have not responded to repeated requests for comment from the AP.
The Park administration has also declined to comment on Minseocs allegations.
